In keeping with our goal to be out and about on Saturdays, we headed to Kamiak Butte a couple weeks ago. Braden was determined to add to the fort him and his cousins found a couple months ago. I told him he would need to carry all those sticks up the 1/2 mile climb.
And he did. I was able to help him a little bit, but I really made him do most of it himself. We also had a talk about not giving up and working hard. This is because he complained a lot last time we hiked it.
This little man was a champ, as always.
As we got closer to the top Braden declared that he wasn't going to give up. And give up he did not. We made it to the top and to the fort.
The boys got to work on adding to the fort.
This is dad and grumpers almost to the top.
Hunter just relaxed at the top.
He was rolling and twisting.
Dad collecting bigger logs.
Dad with the boys.
Me and the boys.
Then it happened. The 2 bee stings that started our series of bad luck. Braden got stuck 3 times. Once on the leg.
And 2 times on the finger.
Fortunately, we don't have bee allergies. Just crying and pain. We also had one tired little boy and one who was scared of the bees.
We made it back down and played at the park for awhile. Braden was proud that he was able to make it down the firepole.
It was a super fun day, minus the bee stings. We love this hike. We also look forward to the day the kiddos can go on the 3 mile hike.
