Getting Our Kicks...

... On Route 66. This was the day I was most looking forward to. A little bit of U.S. History. I can see why they built a new highway, as the roads were small and windy. It was so much fun though. The views from the car ride were beautiful. Unfortunately, some of us were feeling sick so weren't able to make it.

We couldn't drive on Route 66 without eating at a diner. We all got burgers and fries (some got sweet potato fries). It was delicious.

We were off to Oatman, AZ to feed the wild burrows. The burrows were roaming everywhere. It was neat.We got to see some Gunfighters too

Route 66 Scenery

Blake & I recorded some video on the drive. We thought the video looked kind of vintage. We really did try and place ourselves back in the old days. Let's just say our 2009 Dodge Durango with Satellite Radio and air conditioning made it a little more difficult.

Havasu Aquatic Park

Day 4 brought health to some and sickness to others. Mallory & Blair were feeling better, but I couldn't say the same for Kalen & my Mom. Kalen was willing to suck it up and go to the water park with us.

Blake, Brent, & my Dad all went golfing that morning at an executive course. The course was good for Blake because he hasn't been in awhile. He was proud of getting a 39 on par 30. Once they were done, they met up with the rest of us at the Havasu Water Park. My dad got Braden all ready for his day of water. The water park had a wave pool, whirlpool, hot tub, water slide, and kid area. Well worth the $5.50 we paid. We might even try and hit it up later in the week.

We Were Going to Go Running...

...when we decided we should wait until Braden was down for his morning nap, especially since Mallory & Blair were throwing up all night.

We were going to go running when Braden was down for his nap, when the urge to watch an uninterrupted movie overtook us.

We were going to run home from the movie, when we got a frantic call from my sister with Braden crying in the background.

We were going to go running after we calmed Braden down, when we both felt the ache of hunger in our stomachs.

We were going to go running after we got lunch, when we noticed it was warm enough to wear flip flops, so we decided to walk around instead.

We were going to go running once we got back from our walk, when Braden's irritable behavior told us he was really tired and needed to be put to bed. (Blake didn't care, so he went and left me home to put the little one down.)

I was going to go running once Braden was down, when I got really tired from the days activities and needed to take a nap.
I woke up from my nap with no other reason why I shouldn't go running. So I put on my running gear and headed out for a 2 mile easy jog.

Things you will notice at a 6pm run in Lake Havasu:

1. There are NO street lamps
2. There is a cooling breeze
3. The sunset over the Lake is like no other
4. 2 miles seems like nothing when you are in your thoughts
5. There is No grass, only rocks for lawns
6. Buick's and Cadillacs occupy driveways instead of minivans
7. A ranch style home is the preferred model

Day 3 in Lake Havasu was nice and relaxing, even though Blair and Mallory were sick. They just took it even easier with hopes of feeling better the next day. My mom's red jello and ginger ale, hopefully gave them a renewed energy.

London Bridges

Our plane ride, Hoover Dam, and car ride to the Lake made for a long Saturday. Braden was so tired come Sunday Morning. We put him down for a nap and then headed off to church (of course some staying home to watch him). Notice how he took off his pants. These are the pj's Grandma got him. It is tradition in our family to get new Christmas pj's. I should take a picture of mine and Blake's.

After church we headed down to the historic part of Lake Havasu with housed the London Bridge. This is the actual London Bridge. Brought over from London in 1967. (More facts to come after we take our Ghost Tour.)

This was a fun day. I forgot what church was like without a squirmy baby. After a brief overview of the city, we came back and relaxed around the house. A nice house might I add. The evening included some Trivial Pursuit (which we were all terrible at) and just talking about nothing really. Overall, Blake and I are even more excited about what this week will offer.

Overall, our Dam Day was so much fun. Blake & I enjoyed taking the tour and being in non-snowy weather. And who can resist some Dam jokes? We look forward to our week in Lake Havasu.
